A. 2-Fluoro-5-bromopyridine A suspension of 2.2 g (15.6 mmol) of 2-fluoro-5-pyridine-carboxylic acid, 5.1 g of HgO (red) and 1.2 ml of bromine in 100 ml of CCl₄ was irradiated (by) under reflux for 5 h, cooled to room temperature, filtered through celite, and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in hexane, filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to afford 1.73 g (63%) of 2-fluoro-5-bromopyridine, as a pale yellow oil.
