Steps:

4.5. 1,3-Dihydroxypropan-2-yl dodecanoate (2b, utilizing R. miehei)

Lipozyme, immobilized from R. miehei (100 mg) was added to a solution of 2a (100 mg, 0.24 mmol) stirred in anhydrous EtOH (1 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred for 24 h, diluted with CH₂Cl₂ (3 mL), and the lipase was filtered off. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure, and the resulting residue was chromatographed on silica gel (10-50% acetone/hexanes) to yield 2b (55 mg, 84%) as an oil. All spectral data was consistent with that obtained using the procedure with C. antarctica.
