Part B: 2-morpholino-5-carboxymethylpyrimidine 258 (0.4 g) was dissolved in MeOH and NaBH4 (1.5 equivalents) was added and reaction stirred at room temperature for 12 hours. Solvent was evaporated and diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with water, brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. Filtered, evaporated and passed through the column to afford the product corresponding alcohol 259. Mass calculated for compound 259 is 195.21 , observed LCMS m/z 196.1
