Reaction Conditions:

with ammonium acetate in methanol at 20; for 48 h;

Steps:

A.1 Step 1 :

To a solution of methyl 3-oxopentanoate (18.00 g, 138.30 mmol) in methanol (300 mL ) was added ammonium acetate (56.00 g, 726.49 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 48 h. The mixture was concentrated under vacuum. The residue was diluted with dichloromethane and washed with water. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under vacuum to afford methyl (2Z)-3-aminopent-2-enoate (17.8 g, 99%) as a yellow oil. 1H NMR (400 MHz, Chloroform- d) δ 4.58 (s, 1H), 3.67 (s, 3H), 2.19 (q, J = 7.6 Hz, 2H), 1.17 (t, J = 7.6 Hz, 3H).
