Steps:

Synthesis of 2-(propylthio)ethanamine (2S)

1-bromopropane (4.79 ml, 52.6 mmol), cysteamine (6 g, 52.8 mmol), and sodium hydroxide (4.21 g, 105 mmol) were dissolved in 50 ml of methanol. The solution was stirred for 24 h at room temperature and then extracted with dichloromethane. The resulting solution was dried over MgSO₄ and concentrated to give a colorless oil (4.87 g, 78%). ¹H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl₃, δ in ppm): 2.84-2.54 (4H, t, NH₃-(CH₂)₂-S-), 2.44-2.41 (2H, t, -S-CH₂-CH₂-), 1.62-1.50 (2H, m, -CH2-CH2-CH3), 0.95-0.91 (3H, -CH₃)).
