5.3. Preparation of phenoxy acetic acid derivatives 1a-8a. Generalprocedure
General procedure: 1 N NaOH (9.334 mmol, 10 eq) was added to a solution of thesuitable ethyl phenoxy acetate derivatives (1b-8b) (0.993 mmol, 1eq) in THF (10 mL). The mixture was stirred for 5 h at room temperature.Then, the organic solvent was removed under reducedpressure, the aqueous residue was acidified with 2 N HCl and thenextracted with diethyl ether (three times). The collected organicportions were washed with brine, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4,filtered and concentrated to dryness, affording the title compounds.
