Methyl-6-phenylpyridyl-2-imidate (0.200 g, 0.942 mmol) and (S)-tert-leucinol (0.122 g, 1.04 mmol) were dissolved in CH₂CI₂ (4 ml_). The reaction vessel was sealed and heated in a heating block (50 ⁰C) for 16 hours and the reaction mixture was then cooled to ambient temperature. The reaction mixture was loaded onto the top of a Biotage cartridge (silica gel, 40S) and the product was eluted using a stepped gradient of 0 to 40% ethyl acetate in hexanes as the eluent. The product was obtained after evaporation of the eluent as a white solid (0.205 g, 78%).
