Steps:

Method B (from 34)
To a stirred solution of 34 (9.80 g, 55.7 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (100 mL), Morph-DAST (15.4 g, 88.0 mol) was added slowly at 0 °C. The resulting reaction mixture was warmed to r.t. and stirred for 3 d, then poured into sat aq NaHCO3 (300 mL) and extracted with CH2Cl2 (3 × 100 mL). The combined organic extracts were dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure to give crude product 36, which was used in the next step without characterization. Product 36 was dissolved in MeOH (30 mL), 10% Pd/C (1.30 g) was added under an argon atmosphere, and the mixture was hydrogenated with H2 (1 atm) at r.t. overnight. The catalyst was filtered off, and the filtrates were subjected to fractional distillation in vacuo. Yield: 3.37 g (56% from 35).
