Steps:
1 Preparation of 3-(3-nitrophenoxy)propionic acid (Compound 8)
3-(3-Nitrophenoxy)propanal (compound 7, 1.6 g, 8.21 mmol) dissolved in water (10 ml) and dioxane(30 ml) of a mixed solvent, 2-methyl-2-butene (5.2 g, 74 mmol) was added under stirring at room temperature.Sodium hypochlorite (2.23 g, 25 mmol) and potassium dihydrogen phosphate (3.1 g, 23 mmol) were stirred at room temperature overnight.Add 1M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution to adjust pH = 10, and extract with ethyl acetate (50 ml).Add 1M hydrochloric acid aqueous solution to adjust PH=4,Extracted with ethyl acetate (50 ml),The organic phase is concentrated under reduced pressure to dryness to give compound 8(0.8g, 46% yield).
