General Procedure for Synthesis of 3-chloro-subbenzo[b]thiophene-2-carbonyl Chloride (1a-h)
General procedure: 3-Chloro-sub-benzo[b]thiophene-2-carbonyl chlorides (1a-h) were previously synthesized using reported synthetic method [17]. A mixture of appropriate cinnamic acid (0.01 M), thionyl chloride (2 eq.) in pyridine (1 eq.) was heated at 100 °C for 3hrs. TLC was checked for the completion of reaction. After completion of the reaction, excess of thionyl chloride was distilled under vacuum. After this in oily material, dichloromethane was added and stirred well. Again dichloromethane was distilled. The desired product was yellow oil, which was stored under nitrogen atmosphere.
