Steps:

4.3.1. Binuclear ruthenium catalysts
General procedure: A half-sandwich binuclear ruthenium complex (1 mol%) wasdissolved in EtOH (2.0 mL); then appropriate nitroarenes(0.3 mmol) and NaBH4 (1.2 mmol) were added. The resultingmixture was stirred at room temperature in a closed vessel. Aftercompletion of the reaction (monitored by TLC), the crude reactionmixture was extracted with ether (3 x 2 mL). After the solventswere removed in vacuo from the combined organic extracts, thecrude products were loaded directly onto a column of silica gel andpurified by column chromatography using petroleum ether andethyl acetate (1:3) to get the corresponding products.
