To a stirred solution of SL-1598 (447 mg, 1.60 mmol) in DCM (25 mL), DMP (Dess- Martin Periodinane) (711 mg, 1.68 mmol) was added. The resulting solution was stirred at 22°C for 3 hours at which point HPLC analysis indicated full consumption of the starting material. The reaction mixture was loaded onto silica gel column and was purified by silica gel chromatography (0 10% EtO Ac/Heptane) to provide 391 mg (88% yield) of aldehyde SL- 1601 as a white solid. NMR (400 MHz, CDCb) d 9.87 (s, 1H), 8.00 (s, 2H), 2.65 (s, 3H); 13C NMR (100 MHz, CDCb) d 189.0, 144.4, 136.1, 132.6, 126.1, 24.3.
