Yield:158196-47-5 95.9%

Reaction Conditions:

with hydrogen;palladium 10% on activated carbon in methanol at 20; under 760.051 Torr; for 18 h;Inert atmosphere;

Steps:

35A Methyl 3-aminophenoxyacetate

Under argon, 1.3 g of palladium on activated carbon (10%) are added to 13 g (61.6 mmol) of methyl 3-nitrophenoxyacetate in 150 ml of methanol. The mixture is stirred under an atmosphere of hydrogen (atmospheric pressure) at RT for 18 h. The catalyst is filtered off through kieselguhr and the filtrate is concentrated under reduced pressure. This gives, after drying under high vacuum, 10.7 g (95.9% of theory) of the target compound.MS (DCI): m/z=199 (M+NH4)+, 182 (M+H)+ 1H-NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ=7.10-7.02 (m, 1H), 6.35-6.23 (m, 2H), 4.58 (s, 2H), 3.79 (s, 3H), 3.65 (br. s, 2H).
