Steps:

Reagent R-2.1.2-bromo-4-ethynyl-1-fluorobenzene

[0541] STEP 2. To a solution of ((4-bromo-3-fluorophenyl)ethynyl)trimethylsilane (5.0 g, 18.40 mmol) in methanol (100 mL) was added potassium carbonate (7.64 g, 55.20 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 5 hours. The solvent was removed and the residue was partitioned with ethyl acetate (250 mL) and water (100 mL). The organic phase was washed with water (100 mL), 0.5 M aqueous hydrochloric acid (100 mL) and brine (100 mL), dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated. The resulting crude was purified by gradient silica gel flash chromatography (0-20% ethyl acetate in hexanes) to give 2-bromo-4-ethynyl-1-fluorobenzene (2b, R-2.1.) (3.40g, 83%).1H-NMR (300 MHz, d6-DMSO): 7.78 (dd, 1H), 7.46 (m, 1H), 7.32 (d, 1H), 4.28 (1H). MS (EI) for C8H4BrF: 199 [M+H].
