Steps:
3-Chloro-4-[(3-chlorophenyl)methoxy]benzoic acid
To a stirred solution of methyl 3-chloro-4-[(3-chlorophenyl)methoxy]benzoate (868.0 mg, 2.79 mmol) in THF (9 mL), MeOH (3 mL), H20 (3 mL) was added followed by LiOH. 0 (351.15 mg, 8.37 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at 25°C for 4 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was taken up in 0 (15 mL) and acidified with citric acid. Precipitate was collected by filtration, dried under reduced pressure to get an off-white solid (790 mg, 2.66 mmol). lH NMR (400 MHz, DMSO- 6) δ 7.96 - 7.84 (m, 2H), 7.55 (s, 1H), 7.45 (s, 2H), 7.49 - 7.39 (m, 1H), 7.31 (d, J= 8.7 Hz, 1H), 5.31 (s, 2H). MS: (ESI): m/z = 295.2 [M-H]".
