4.2.13. General procedure for preparation of 3-methyl-4-aryl-1,2-oxazol-5-amines 13a-e

General procedure: To a solution of ketonitrile 12 (100 mmol) in ethanol (250 mL)hydroxylamine (100 mL) and 10% aqueous Na2CO3 (110 mL) wereadded. The mixture was stirred at r.t. until the full dissolution ofthe solids and then heated at reflux for 3 h. It was then cooled tor.t. and the volatiles were removed in vacuo. Water (10 mL) wasadded and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate(250 mL). The extract was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filteredand concentrated in vacuo to provide the title compounds.
