8 [Production Example 8] Preparation of 1-(azidomethyl)-3-methylbenzene (Compound B-8)

3-methylbenzyl bromide (0.15 mL, 1.08 mmol) was dissolved in DMSO (10 mL). NaN3 (105 mg, 1.62 mmol) was added in subdivided portions and then stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. After terminating the reaction with H2O, the organic layer was extracted with Ether. The extracted organic layer was dried over anhydrous MgSO 4, filtered under reduced pressure, and the resulting filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain a colorless liquid compound B-8 (150 mg, 94%).
