Steps:
1-(3-nitrobenzyl)hydrazine
1-(Chloromethyl)-3-nitrobenzene (6.5 g, 38 mmol) was added into the solution of hydrazine hydrate(80%, 6.0 g, 112 mmol),60 mL ethanol and potassium carbonate (9.6 g). After the reation mixture was stirred at 45 for 8 hr, EtOH was recoveredand the residue was added 100 mL water. CH2Cl2 (3×50mL) was used to extract the dydrazine and the product was obtainedafter CH2Cl2 was evaporated in cacuo to give a clear yellowish oil of sufficient purity to be used directly in the next step (5.8g, 92% yield).( [33] Wada Katsuaki, et al.
