Steps:

3 3-Phenyl-1,2,4-triazin-6(1H)-one

EXAMPLE 3 3-Phenyl-1,2,4-triazin-6(1H)-one To 0.60 g. 3-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazin-6(1H)-one dissolved in 40 ml ethyl acetate was added 0.80 g. DDQ (2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone). The solution immediately became green and was stirred at about 25° C. for 16 hours. The reaction mixture was then refluxed for 3 hours and cooled in an ice bath. The solid was collected and washed with three 50 ml portions of hexane. Yield 0.37 g. 64% Yield.
