To a solution of tert-butyl 3-hydroxy-3-phenylpyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (1.5 g, 5.7 mmol) inMeOH (5 mL) was added 2 M HC1 in diethyl ether (13 mL) under argon atmosphere at 0 °C.The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 4 h. After completion, the solvent wasremoved under reduced pressure to afford 1 g of 3-phenylpyrrolidin-3-ol hydrochloride(Yield = 88%).
