Steps:

24.1 Step 1: Preparation of 6-(aminomethyl)nicotinic acid

To a solution of 6-Cyanonicotinic acid (1 g, 6.7 mmol) in MeOH (20 mL) was added Pd(OH)₂(10% Pd in carbon, 0.1 g). The mixture was stirred at r.t. under a hydrogen atmosphere overnight. Then the mixture was diluted with H₂0 (10 mL), the catalyst was filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give 6-(aminomethyl)nicotinic acid (750 mg), which was used in the next step without further purification.
