General procedure for the synthesis of 5-carboethoxy-2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyridines (1a-1h)
General procedure: 4-aryl substituted5-carboethoxy-2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyridines(THPYs) considered for the present study were synthesizedaccording to the reported procedure [25]. In a typicalmethod, a mixture of Meldrum’s acid (1 mmol), aromaticaldehyde (1 mmol), ethyl acetoacetate (1 mmol) andammonium acetate (2.5 mmol) in 0.5 mL glacial acetic acidwas heated at 80 °C for 10 h. Subsequently, the mixturewas added to ice water; then, the precipitated compoundwas collected and purified by recrystallization from methanolto obtain pure product.
