Step A ethyl 4-amino- 1 H-indole-2-carboxylate [00200] To a solution of ethyl 4-nitro-1 H-indole-2-carboxylate (1 .7 g, 7.3 mmol) in ethanol was added Raney nickel and the reaction hydrogenated at 60 psi at room temperature for 1.5 h. The reaction was filtered through celite and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound (1 .38 g, 93% yield). LC-MS: ESI (M + H)⁺ m/z = 205.46.
