Steps:

General procedure for the synthesis of quinazolinyl esters (4a,d)

General procedure: To a solution of quinazolinone (4a,d) (0.01 mol) in 15 mL of dimethylformamide were added methylchloroacetate (0.014 mol) and 5 g of K₂CO₃ . The reaction mixture was heated on an oil bath for 2 h keeping the temperature at 50 to 60 °C, poured into ice-water, and allowed to stand overnight. The precipitate was filtered and recrystallized from ethanol to get quinazolinyl esters (4a,d).
