-

Yield:3315-19-3 99%

Reaction Conditions:

boric acid in 1,2-dichloro-benzene; for 18 h;Heating / reflux;

Steps:

1.a

A 250 mi three necked reaction flask, equipped with a reflux condenser combined with a water separator and an oil bath with a magnetic stirrer was charged with 16.4g (150mmol) of 2-aminophenol (Fluka), 20.8g (150 mmol) of 4-hydroxy-benzoic acid and 1.2g of boric acid in 150 mi of 1, 2-dichlorobenzene. After 18 hours of reflux 5 ml of water were separated. On tic (hexane/ethylacetate = 3: 2) no starting material could be observed. The reaction mixture was cooled and diluted with hexane. Crystals were formed, which were filtered off, washed with hexane and dried at 60°C in a vacuum to yield 31.3g (99%) of the product. M. p. 242-245°C. UV (ethanol) 306 nm (31'831).
