2.4 General Procedure for the C-S CouplingReaction Catalyzed by CuMTPOF

General procedure: The catalytic activity of CuMTPOF was tested for one ofthe important reactions i.e., C-S coupling. The C-S couplingreaction is generally carried out using homogeneous catalysts. However, their applications were confined dueto the separation and recycling of the steeply-priced Cucatalystsfrom the reaction mixture. Here MTPOF basedheterogeneous Cu is utilized as a catalyst for performingthe C-S coupling reaction. In this reaction a mixture of substitutedaryl halide (0.5 mmol), 2-mercaptobenzimidazole(0.5 mmol), CuMTPOF (0.05 g) and Et3N(3 eq,) in ethanol(10 mL), was refluxed for 2 h. After completion of thereaction, the catalyst was separated by centrifugation andwashed several times with ethanol, afterward filtrate wasadded to ice-cold water. The solid obtained was filtered anddried under vacuum. The crude products were purified bycolumn chromatography and characterized by NMR spectroscopy(see Supplementary information).
