Thionyl chloride (45 μ , 0.63 mmol) was added to benzotriazole (75 mg, 0.63 mmol). The resulting yellow solution was dissolved in dry DCM (0.5 mL). After 5 min , this solution was added slowly to a solution of the alcohol 142 (93 mg, 0.50 mmol) in DCM (4 mL). After 20 min of reaction, the salt was filtered. The organic phase was washed with water (4 mL) and an aqueous solution of NaOH (0.05 M, 4 mL). The organic phase was dried on Na₂S0₄ and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure to give the desired chlorinated compound as a colorless oil (70 mg, 68 %). ¹ H NMR (300 MHz, CDCI₃) δ 3.82 (t, J = 6.1 Hz, 2H), 4.25 (t, J = 6.1 Hz, 2H), 4.58 (s, 2H), 6.90 (d, J = 8.8 Hz, 2H), 7.34 (d, J = 8.8 Hz, 2H).
