Reaction Conditions:

with palladium 10% on activated carbon;hydrogen in ethanol at 20; under 760.051 Torr; for 4 h;

Steps:

Synthesis of4,6-dimethylpyridine-2,3-diamine (34b)

5 g (29.9 mmol) of 4,6-dimethyl-3-nitropyridin-2-amine was dissolved in 300 ml of ethanol and hydrogenated with H2 (1 atm.) over 3.1 g of 10% Pd/C at rt for 4h. The mixture was filtrated over celite and concentrated under reduced pressure. Evaporation gave 4.05 g (99%) of the product as an yellow solid, which was used in the next step without further purification. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) d (ppm): 6.15 (s, 1H), 5.2 (s, 2H), 4.15 (s, 2H), 2.1 (s, 3H), 2.95 (s, 3H); MS (ESI): 138 [M+H]+.
