To a mixed solution of l-(4-bromo-2-fluorophenyl)ethanone (1.00 g, 4.5 mmol), palladium acetate (0.12 g, 0.54 mmol) and l , -bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (0.50 g, 0.90 mmol) in N,N-dimethylacetamide (22 mL) and methanol (7 mL) was added triethylamine (1.3 mL, 9.2 mmol). The reaction solution was stirred under carbon monoxide atmosphere at 90°C overnight. The solution was cooled to room temperature, and then the reaction solution was filtered through diatomaceous earth and silica gel, and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane:ethyl acetate = 100:0→60:40) to give methyl 4-acetyl-3-fluorobenzoate (0.83 g, 93%) as a pale yellow powder.APCI-MS m/z:194[M+H]+.
