b) Compound 8.3 To a solution of aniline 8.2 (29.5 mg, 145 μmol) in THF (5 mL) and MeOH (4 mL) was added an aqueous 1 N NaOH solution (4 mL). After 16 h aqueous 1 N HCl (25 mL) was added and the mixture was extracted several times with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were successively washed with water and brine, dried (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to give compound 8.3 (25.4 mg, 92% yield) as a beige solid.
