Steps:

51 Preparation 51: 4-benzyl-2,6-dichloropyrimidine (P51)

To a solution of 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidine (936 mg, 5 mmol) in THE (30 mL) 1M benzylmagnesiumchloride in Et20 (5mL, 5 mmol) was added dropwise at -78 °C. The reaction was allowed to warm up to 20 °C over 3 hrs. EtOAc and H20 were added, the product was extracted twice in organic phase, which was dried and evaporated. The crude material was purified by EC on silica (eluent:Cy to Cy/EA 90/10) affording 4-benzyl-2,6-dichloropyrimidine (p51, 1.1 g, y= 92%) as pale yellow oil.1H NMR (CHLOROFORM-d): 6 ppm 7.44 - 7.32 (m, 3H), 7.30 - 7.24 (m, 2H), 7.04 (s, 1H), 4.12 (s, 2H)
