Steps:



A solution o - uoro- -n trop eno . g, . mmol), N-bromosuccinimide (19.6 g, 110 mmol), and sulfuric acid (100 mL) was stirred overnight at 65 °C. Then, the reaction mixture was poured onto ice. Next, the resulting mixture was extracted three times with dichloromethane and the organic layers were combined and concentrated. The resulting residue was purified by MPLC eluting with 20% ethyl acetate in petroleum ether to afford 4- bromo-3-fluoro-2-nitrophenol (3.6 g, 17%) as a yellow solid.
