Example I. Synthesis of Quinazolinyl Nitrofuran Phosphate Prodrugs; Compound I: 4-Fluoro-5-morpholin-4-yl-2-nitro- benzoic acid. A mixture of 2-nitro-4 , 5-difluorobenzoic acid (18.0 g, 88.626 mmol) and morpholine (400 mL) was heated at 800C for 3 h. After cooling, the mixture was concentrated in vacuo and dried under vacuum (600C) to provide the morpholine salt of the Compound I (39.0 g) as a yellow solid. MS (M+H) 271.1.
