Steps:

4-iodo-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyridin-3-amine
Tert-butyl (4-iodo-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyridin-3-yl)carbamate (2.5 g, 6.44 mmol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (45 mL).
Trifluoroacetic acid (3.67 g, 32.2 mmol) was added to the solution.
The solution was stirred at 21° C. for 24 hours.
The solution was then taken up in excess dichloromethane and washed with saturated NaCl.
The organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated down.
The crude product was purified by chromatography on silica gel (cyclohexane/ethyl acetate 80/20) and dried under vacuum. Yield: 91%. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO): 8.0 (s, 1H), 7.95 (s, 1H), 6.21 (s, 2H).
