REFERENCE EXAMPLE 2 Synthesis of (4-vinylphenyl)dimethylchlorosilane (4-Vinylphenyl)magnesium chloride was synthesised by the gradual dropwise addition of 50 parts of p-chlorostyrene to a mixture of 15 parts magnesium turnings and 100 parts tetrahydrofuran. This was gradually added dropwise over 2 hours to 50 parts of dimethyldichlorosilane dissolved in 100 parts tetrahydrofuran, after which the reaction was heated for an additional 1 hour under reflux.
