In 15 ml of glacial acetic acid, 3-aminophenol (VIII)(1.09 g; 0.01 mol) was dissolved. Then, (10 ml; 0.02 mol)of bromine in glacial acetic acid was added dropwiseto 3-aminophenol solution, with stirring at 60°C. After5-10 min the brown color of bromine was discharged and ayellow solution remained.
