To a stirred solution of 5-benzyl-octahydropyrrolo[3,4-b]pyrrole-4,6-dione (p62, 150 mg, 0.65 mmol) in THF (8 mL), 1 M LiA1H4 in THF (1.95 mL, 1.95 mmol) was added drop wise, the resulting solution was then heated at reflux for lh. It was cooled to 0 °C and quenched with Na2504 10H20 until gas evolution ceased. The suspension was filtered; the salts were washed with EtOAc. After solvent evaporation 130 mg of title compound (p63, y= 98%) wereobtained as pale yellow oil. MS (m/z): 203.2 [IVIH]t
