To a solution of 2-isopropoxythiazole (300 mg, 2.32 mmol) in DMF (2 niL) was added N-bromosuccinimide (620 mg, 3.48 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours then subjected to flash column chromatography using 10% ethyl acetate/hexane to give a colorless oil (440 mg, 91% yield). LCMS(Conditions C): Tr 3.27 min. ; (M+H)+: 207.88 (20%), 209.88 (20%), 179.87 (100%), 181.87 (100%)
