Steps:
Preparation of 3-bromo-2-methylthiophen-5-ylzinc bromide (II)
General procedure: In an oven-dried 250mL round-bottomed flask equipped with a stir bar was added 4.70 g of active zinc (Zn, 72.0 mmol). 3,5-Dibromo-2-methylthiophene (15.36 g, 60.0mmol) was cannulated neat into the flask at room temperature. The resulting mixture was stirred for 1.0 h at room temperature. The whole mixture was settled down and then the supernatant was used for the subsequent coupling reactions.
