169 Synthesis of 169.2.

To a stirred mixture of 169.1 (400 mg, 1.78 mmol, 1 eq) in methyl alcohol (4 mL) and water (1 mL) were added sodium hydroxide (142 mg, 3.56 mmol, 2 eq). The resulting mixture was stirred for 1 h at 60 °C. The mixture was allowed to cool down to room temperature and diluted with water. The pH value of the solution was adjusted to 3 with IN aqueous hydrochloric acid. The solids were collected by filtration to obtain the crude product 5- chloropyrazolo[l,5-a]pyridine-3-carboxylic acid (169.2, 300 mg, 85%) as a white solid. MS (ES): m/z 197 [M+H]+.
