Step 3: (0541) To the product of step 2 (0.27 g, 1.3 mmol) in THF (2 mL) was added 2N LiOH_(aq.)(1.9 mL, 3.9 mmol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The pH was adjusted to pH 4 using saturated aqueous citric acid. The mixture was extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried (MgSO₄), filtered, and concentrated in vacuo to provide the carboxylic acid (0.23 g, 94%).
