Steps:
5j.2 Preparation of 5-ethynylfuran-2-carbaldehyde:
5-((trimethylsilyl)ethynyl)furan-2-carbaldehyde (15.52 g, 80.7 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (300 mL). K2CO3 (33.46 g, 242.1 mmol) was added. The mixture was reacted under stirring for 2 hours, and rotary-evaporated to dryness. Ethyl acetate (300 mL) and water (300 mL) were added. The mixture was extracted. The organic phase was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate, and rotary-evaporated to dryness to give a yellow solid (9.5 g) in a yield of 98%.
