Intermediate 110. 5-(methylamino)pentanoic acid 1 -methylpiperidin-2-one (3,88g, 34.3mmol) was dissolved in an aqueous hydrochloric acid solution (19ml_ of a 5N solution in water) and the mixture was stirred at 130 °C overnight and 3 additiiional hours at 150 °C. Water the was evaporated until a wet white solid was obtained. Dioxane (20ml_) was added to the mixture and evaporated to dryness (this operation was performed three more times) and the white precipitate was washed with dietyl ether (30ml_), filtered and dried at 30 °C under vacuum. The title compound was obtained (5.08g as a hydrochloride salt, 88%) as a white solid. LRMS (m/z): 132 (M+1 )+
