-

Yield:21382-30-9 98%

Reaction Conditions:

with hydrogenchloride at 80; for 40 h;Reflux;

Steps:

12. 5-(Methylamino)pentanoic acid (15)

A mixture of 1-methylpiperidin-2-one (14, 3.0 g, 26.5 mmol) and 10 ml of 6 Nhydrochloric acid was heated for 16 h to 80 oC. Subsequently 5 ml ofconcentrated hydrochloric acid were added and the reaction mixture was heatedfor 24 h to reflux. The mixture was cooled to room temperature andconcentrated under reduced pressure. The remainder was taken up in diethylether and the resulting suspension was stirred for 1 h, then filtered. The solidwas collected and dried in high vacuum to deliver 5-(methylamino)pentanoicacid hydrochloride salt (15, 4.4 g, 26.1 mmol, 98 %),
