5-Phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-carboxylic acid (4) (400 mg, 2.11 mmol) was dissolved in thionyl chloride (4mL) and refluxed for four hours. Then the mixture was concentrated in vacuum and used without any purification.
