Example 18 General Procedure for the Reaction of Methyl Piperidine-4-carboxylate hydrochloride with Acid Chlorides[0150] To a suspension of methyl piperidine-4-carboxylate hydrochloride (5.6 mmol) in CH2CI2 (20 mL) at 0 °C was added diisopropylethyl amine (16.7 mmol) and the suspension was stirred for 10 minutes. Appropriate acid chloride (8.4 mmol) was added dropwise and the solution was allowed to warm to rt and stirred overnight. The reaction was diluted with water (15 mL) and CH2CI2 (15 mL). The organic layer was collected and the aqueous layer was extracted with CH2CI2 (2 x 20 mL). The combined organic extracts were dried ( a2S04) and concentrated under reduce pressure to afford the following compounds.
