Preparation of 6-Allyl-5,7-dichloropyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (18)

A solution of 17 (16.5 g, 86.4 mmol) in POCI3 (100 mL) was stirred at 100 °C overnight. Aftercooled down to RT, excess POCl3 was removed under reduced pressure to afford the 18 (17.2 g, 87.3%yield) as brown oil, which was used in the next step directly without further purification. LC-MS (ESI):m/z [M + 1]+ =228.14, 230.14.
