2.4. Catalytic performance tests

The hydrogenation experiments were carried out in an auto-clavereactor. The working solution was prepared by dissolving 120 g ofsolid 2-ethylanthraquinone (EAQ) in 1 L of a mixed solvent of trioctylphosphate (TOP, 98 %, TCI) and trimethylbenzene (98 %, TCI) with thevolume ratio of 1:1. All catalysts to be tested were completely reduced at180 for 3 h in a tube furnace before hydrogenation reaction. In atypical run, 60 mL working solution and 1.2 g catalyst were sequentiallyput in the reactor which was maintained at a temperature of 60 and ahydrogen pressure of 0.3 MPa with a rotating speed of 800 r/min. Whenthe hydrogenation reaction proceeds to a certain time, 2 mL of the hydrogenatedproduct was taken out for analysis in the process of thehydrogenation reaction. Then, the catalyst-free hydrogenated solutionwas placed into 20 mL of deionized water and sufficiently oxygenized byO2 at 30 for 30 min in a separating funnel. After the oxidation reaction,a H2O2 aqueous solution was extracted three times with distilledwater and the water-phase was titrated by KMnO4 solution to determinethe H2O2 content.
