General procedure: A total of 1mM of the corresponding aldehyde11a-r and12a-k was dissolved in 2mL of ethyl alcohol.The resulting solution was slowly added dropwise with stirring to a solution of 1mM thiosemicarbazide in 2mL of distilled water.The precipitate that formed was filtered off,washed with water,then air dried.The thiosemicarbazones 13a-rand14a-k obtained were isolated in58- 93%yields.
