Steps:

57.2 Step 2: Preparation of piperidin- 1-yI(piperidin-4-yI)methanone

To a stirred solution of tert-butyl 4-(piperidine-i -carbonyl)piperidine-i -carboxylate (500 mg, 1 .69 mmol) in methanol (5 mL) was added 4N methanolic hydrogen chloride solution (15 mL). The mixture wasstirred at 20 °C for 16 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to provide piperidin-1-yl(piperidin-4-yl)methanone (400 mg) as a colorless oil. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) O 3.51- 3.36 (m, 4H), 3.28-3.18 (m, 2H), 2.90 (s, 4H), 1 .82-1 .68 (m, 4H), 1 .64-1 .37 (m, 6H).
